She's BAAAAAAACK!

That’s right, I’ve risen from the land of the never-ending boxes into the land of the completely and 100% moved in (well, let’s not look at the corner stacked high with pictures to hang on the wall, shall we?) and am now free to blog and knit and watch movies and TV without feeling guilty. YEAH! Of course, this is when I get sick. BOO! But at least I can still blog even while sick… it’s not that hard to type, though please forgive me any fogginess while posting.

First item of business: CONGRATS to the winners of the Oh To Knit Again Giveaway!!! The winners (and their respective skeins) were:

Lilie – Mintheweaver’s Rocking Stockings in A Rose by Any Other Name
Clare – Malabrigo Sock in Solis
Lisa – Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy in Saffron
Misha – Dream in Color Smooshy in Spring Tickle
Rachel – Pagewood Farms Yukon in Fabulous Fall

I did NOT neglect them and they have all received their prizes already so that’s a relief. It felt nice to give those skeins to people who were so happy to receive them… plus after setting up my sock non-stash, I felt like it was probably a good thing I’ve given up some sock skeins. Here’s a picture of my new set up for sock non-stash as well as some pretty lace, DK and wosted weight stash that I don’t have a specific project in mind for or that was just too pretty not to display (the rest are taking up 4 big baskets/plastic bins, and no, I’m not kidding):

My Yarn Stash

Yes, I do believe I have a yarn problem. The first step is to admit it right?

My Yarn Stash

My Yarn Stash

The two pictures above are all non-stash sock yarn. At the bottom right corner of the second picture are my leftover sock yarn balls that I think I’m going to display in an Apothecary jar in my living room just as soon as I buy said jar. 😉

My Yarn Stash

The picture above is the lace, DK and worsted weight stash. So really it only occupies two shelves… not too bad, no? Though I’m not showing you the uppermost shelf (there’s an extension unit with two doors above the ones I showed you in the picture) or the bottom-most shelf – which is just miscellaneous and not nearly as pretty. But really, who could help but fall in love with the pretty colors? huh? Not me! Oh and just one more picture:

My Yarn Stash

Oh yeah, a knitting sticker inside! This was given to me by the ever-talented Lindsey of Apocaknits who will most likely give you one if you ask for it! I think the flaming yarn goes quite well with my sock non-stash, don’t you? Thanks Lindsey!!!

And even with unpacking and having a hell of a time doing it, I was able to get some knitting in (mostly within the last week or so). I finished my pair of Oolong socks which I am just in LOVE with! The pictures are just okay but you can still see how wonderful they turned out. Well, at least I think they turned out wonderful!

The thing I like most about these socks is the cool ribbing on the foot! It makes the sock SO comfortable to wear and fits lots of sizes due to the stretch (making it a good gift!). Plus, it just looks awesome!

I have more knitting to show you, but I’ll leave that to the next post, I think! Just wanted to leave you guys with some pictures from our 4th of July BBQ (which was awesome!) and of the NYC fireworks which we could see from our PRIVATE (that’s right, private) roof deck. We were probably about 10 miles away from where they were setting them off – they are just that big! We had a great time and I hope your 4th of July (if you celebrate it or not) was wonderful! 😀

Oh and just wanted to add that the dogs are loving the new place! We got a new couch and it’s their favorite place to chill, as you can see:

I honestly don’t know how I can resist a face like that. 😉

  1. Those lucky winners— What a terrific giveaway!
And your “stash problem”? A thing of beauty, if you ask me. Congrats on your new digs; such a fabulous set up you have there with the rooftop action going on.
Love the reflection of your lovely Oolongs, love the mojito, and the fireworks (amazing!) and of course those doggies. 😉

  2. Congrats to the winners!

Love all your photos. Love love love your Yarnmoire, especially the fact that you have glass doors so you can see inside. It just looks so lovely. Mine (http://smariek.blogspot.com/2008/04/yarnmoire.html) is wood, can’t see inside, not as pretty to look at.

Your socks are gorgeous. Love your rooftop view. Would love to learn how to take photos like the one of the mojito, where the background is blurry.

  3. Wow, what amazing photos! And OMG what an amazing stash!!! It’s set up wonderfully for display. (I’d just be stood in front of it all day staring at the prettiness!)

Also your dogs are heart breakers.

  6. I love your yarn storage and I think I covet your stash. The pictures are beautiful as always. I put my little leftover balls in a very tall glass canning jar and sometimes I shake it to see the ones that are hiding in the middle.
