It’s sad that even though I don’t have the excuse of moving keeping me from knitting anymore, I still can’t seem to find the time that I want to knit. Lately I’ve just been working non-stop ( I *really* want to graduate in less than 2 years) and coming home to two energetic dogs who just want to play-play-play, need to be fed or groomed, or just want to love on me – it’s actually quite hard to knit while being loved on by a dog, never mind two dogs! – dinner to be made, laundry to be done and other life-related things to take care of. Knitting, sadly, has gone to the back burner. But not to fear, I still am able to get in a minute or two here and there. My hour-long commute (please allow me a moment of nostalgia for my previous 15 minute commute to work) allows me at least 25 minutes non-stop knitting time (the rest of the hour is spent either waiting for a transfer or running to catch a transfer or walking to/from the subway stop), which is very helpful for these amazingly gorgeous pair of socks I’m test knitting. I really love how these are coming out but, sadly, I can’t show you them until September as they are going to be a mystery knit for August. I’m knitting them in the lovely Malabrigo sock in the most amazing Ochre (I love love love this color). I couldn’t just tease and tease without posting a tiny teaser pic, though, so here it is:
The color is to die for, IMO, and I can’t wait to be able to show you these completed socks just as soon as I am able. 🙂 I do have a pair of socks I *can* show you, however:
These are the Eunice socks (rav link) that I’m knitting for the Makin’ Cookies group also on Ravelry. It’s SUCH a great pattern! I am seriously in love with these socks and can’t wait to present them to my mother (who I’m knitting them for). She’s a big fan of cables and not such a big fan of color (except blue and I didn’t want to knit blue as it seems that every single Eunice I’ve seen lately is blue and as much as I love the color, I felt a little variety was in order) so I went with the incredibly soft Handmaiden Casbah in Ivory, a perfect color choice for her, if I do say so myself:
The sock is a wee quite a bit small on me as my mom has beautiful 7.5 feet and I’ve got clunky 8.5-9 feet, but you can still see the prettiness of the sock AND of the yarn – LOVE the color variations in it.
My favorite part of the sock? Other than all of it, you mean? I guess I would have to say the heel. I love the construction of it and how it flows so well with the pattern:
I’m hoping to be done with sock #2 soon, but I do need to finish my test knit socks first so it might be closer to the end of the month before they are done.
The only other knit I’ve really been working on (and finished in just 2 days – really one as I didn’t start until late at night and finished the next day early) was a Stella hat for my little cousin who just turned 15.
I don’t have a picture of her wearing the hat, sadly, but she LOVED it! Apparently she put it on and wore it around all day long – and it’s summer, people! So I think it’s safe to say that the pattern was a big hit. In case you have any young friends/daughters/whatever to knit for, this is a great hat to make quickly and easily – and did I mention it’s FREE?
Oh and the true color is more of a dark green blue which was difficult impossible to capture.

I have many many projects to be put on the needles, now I only have to find the time to cast them all on! Until then, my gorgeous dogs that I groom myself (neither have ever been to a groomer in their life) hope that you can find much more knitting time for your own projects but that you make sure to look beautiful while doing it… just because you’re knitting doesn’t mean you have to let yourself go! 😉

Beautiful Eunice! I’ve just started mine and I hate to admit it but they’re blue. The doggies are beautiful, too.

I love your Eunice socks! The pattern looks great in that colour, and it makes me want to cast some on for myself. And the hat is fab, it also looks great in the colour you chose.

Ha, you are such a sock knitter now! And I sometimes miss my hour & half commute (each way) just for the sock knitting because I’ve fallen behind as well. Plus doing a test knit as well, so not very interesting blog posting to do! 🙂

Oh my gosh! The ochre is just lovely. And such a tease it was to see just that much of the sock. The sock you completed for your mum is beautiful. I’m sure she will enjoy them.
