Happy Early Blogiversary Photo.Knit.Dog!

As promised, I’m writing this post before I go off to Australia! In fact, I’m writing it exactly 1 hour before the car service comes, so you can all feel pretty important right about now. 😉

I’ve loved writing in this blog in the past year and it’s been wonderful being able to connect with other knitting bloggers and Ravelers! It’s been fun and I can’t wait until the next year to see what you all come up with as well as what I come up with. As a thank you to all readers of this blog, as well as a celebration of a year of blogging, I am holding a Blogiversary contest which has extremely exciting prizes, if I do say so myself. Don’t believe me? Well, check it out:

Blog Giveaway

That’s eight – count ’em EIGHT – skeins of gorgeous beautiful yarn that I’m giving away for my blogiversary! Am I generous or what? And modest to boot! You all love me, don’t you? haha!

Here are the close ups and yarns from left to right:

Yarn Love Juliet in Ancient Forest
Yarn Love

J. Knits Superwash Me Sock in New Jersey
J. Knits Superwash me Sock

Zen Yarn Garden 100% Superwash Merino in Black Plum – the picture is a little off, it’s like a dark dark dark purple – black with hints of purple, if that makes sense
Zen Yarn Garden

Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy in Silver Lining – you all know how much I love this!
Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy

The Sanguine Gryphon Kypria in 24. Adopted
The Sanguine Gryphon Kypria

Three Irish Girls Beckon Merino in Lagoon
Three Irish Girls Beckon Stretch Merino

Numma Numma The Regular in Organic Greens – no close up of this one, but the main picture is accurate for color… it’s a really nice bright green.

Finally at the top, Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Applewood – this is the same color that I made my Vine Yoke Cardigan out of (see post below). I have 3 extra skeins of this and thought one of you might like one to make a hat
Malabrigo Worsted

In addition, the first place winner will get not only yarn, but this gorgeous set of stitchmarkers generously provided by Lillie of A Planet 4 Creation! These are mine that she made for me and the winner will get to choose a color from her line and she will make the markers specially for that person.
Blog Giveaway

So how will this work? You have until my actual Blogiversary (Nov. 12th) to put in a comment here telling me what (if anything) you’d like to see more of in my blog. The dogs? The knits? The pics? The stories? Whatever you think. If nothing, just go ahead and say I’m perfect, I won’t mind. 😉 Also in the comment, please state your top 3 wanted skeins in order of preference. This will help me when assigning skeins to winners. After the contest is over, I will use a random number generator to pick 8 winners. This makes it more fun because there are greater chances of winning! Keep in mind, however, that you might not hear from me until I get back into the country on November 21st. If I happen to be able to post before then I will, but if not please don’t feel like I’ve been ignoring the contest! I promise I will send the skeins off to everyone. 🙂 Oh and this contest is open to any and everyone who wants to join (no matter where in the world you live). The skein might take a while to get to you if you’re far away from NYC (yes, I will probably use cheap-o shipping) but I’ll ship out to those of you outside of North America, so comment away!

In addition, for a second chance to win, blog about this post in your own blog then come back here leaving a *second* comment telling me you did so and you have another chance right there. Just like that! 😀

Good luck to all of you! I have a plane to catch now so check back in 2 weeks for Australian scenery. yay!

  1. Lina, congrats on your one year blogiversary! I would love to see more pics of your knits (both WIPs and FOs) and your gorgeous yarn porn photos! You have great taste in yarn and photograph it so beautifully. Have a great trip down under! My faves: Fiberfile, Yarn Love Juliet, and Zen Yarn Garden. 🙂

  2. Hmm… what I would like to see more of.. is it possible to see more knits? If so, then knits would be my answer. Yes, definitely more knits. More pictures would be great, too — that’s another thing you can never have too much of!

    My top three choices:
    Zen Yarn Garden
    Fiberphile
    Sanguine Gryphon

  3. What fabulous pics you have…just beautiful! Especially the doggy ones!:) I love your applewood cardigan too, just might have to queue that pattern!
Sanguine, fiberphile, yarn love…..such pretty yarns! Happy Blogiversary!

  4. I love how much you love socks now! 😀 So I like looking at the beautiful socks you have been cranking out. Plus, I would not say no to more doggie pictures! 🙂

Have a wonderful time in Australia! I can’t wait to see your photos!

As for yarn…hmmm, I love them all but I would say…
Three Irish Girls Beckon Merino in Lagoon
Zen Yarn Garden 100% Superwash Merino in Black Plum
Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy in Silver Lining

  5. I love your blog! I think you need even more pictures though! I love your photos. All of ’em. If you lived in southern California, I think I would probably ask you to photograph my husband and I – our Vegas elopement photos were, well, sad. The drunk lazy-eyed photog only took 8 pictures, and only 6 of them were in focus. Aaaanyhoo, I enjoy your posts & pics, here and on Rav. 🙂
    Yaaarrn….ZYG, Fiberphile and J-Knits.

    sarah

  6. Oh they are all so pretty. I would say #1-Fiberphile, #2-Zen Yarn Garden & #3-JKnits or 3 Irish Girls
Your Applewood Cardigan is gorgeous! It tempts me to put it in my queue!
Have a great vacation-hope you have a blast(& wow-there will be some major knitting time on those flights!! What are you taking to work on?)

  15. Wow what a lovely site. I love your doggies (being a parent of 3 myself). Your kntting skills and color choices are wonderful and I look forward to hearing about your adventures down under. Keep up the good work and include more about the dogs.

Top 3 (Hard to pick such lovely skeins) – Fiberfiles, Zen Yarn Garden and Numma Numma

  16. Grats on your blogiversary! I’m still hoping to have a stash like yours when I grow up! lol I hope you have a great time in Aussieland! As for which yarns I like best:

    J.Knits
    Fiberfile
    Yarn Love

    Thanks for the contest!

  17. Lina, I love reading your blog! I enjoy the knits and stories, but I really love your gorgeous pictures. More dog pictures would be perfect too. 😉
Yarn: J. Knits, Zen Yarn Garden, & Fiberphile.

  18. All I can think of is to add even more extreme knitting, superb photos, wonderful happy life news and adorable pups. All the things I’m already insanely envious of.

Oh, wait, there is one thing. Maybe a little sign that says “Kitten, you dummy, this is a photo of doggies, not yarn.” I’ve been fooled more than once, like the shot of the pups on Hallowe’en or Hitchcock lounging on your Aestlight shaw.

Thanks for the contest, and Happy Blorthday! I’d love to Adopt a Gryphon, or, since it just started raining, a Silver Lining would come in handy. If it keeps on raining, maybe I’ll wind up in a Lagoon without a paddle?

  19. Happy Blogaversary! And dude, don’t go changin’ anything about your blog…. okay? Well, if you want to, you can 😉 cuz whatever you do it’ll be awesome.

I’m dizzy from the gloriousness of every single skein of contest yarn. So I wouldn’t know which top three to pick.

    have a wonderful Austrailian adventure!

  20. More Kubrick! More Hitchcock! More luscious yarn shots.

I love all the yarn you posted (except the brown which I am anti-brown so it’s not the yarns fault). If I win, I swear I won’t rub it on my genitals. Scouts honor.

  21. This is my first visit to your blog. ‘Kitten With A Whiplash’ pointed to way to your blogiversary.
Your Ysolda Cardi is very stylish indeed. Am I being swayed to knit garments in addition to sox?
Your generous offering of such delish yarns is wonderful.
IF I should be so lucky –
    J. Knits Superwash Me Sock
    Three Irish Girls
    Malabrigo Applewood

  22. Wow – I love your blog just the way it is, although I love the knitting best. I love purples and blues best so I’d pick

    1) . Knits Superwash Me Sock in New Jersey
    2) Zen Yarn Garden 100% Superwash Merino in Black Plum (I trust you that it’s purply)
    3) Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy in Silver Lining

But I would probably be thrilled with almost any of them.

    Have a fab trip!

  23. You are generous! Those are lovely skeins. I especially like:
    J. Knits Superwash Me Sock New Jersey
    Zen Yarn Garden Block Plum

Whenever I take a picture it comes out as crayon stick figures pointing to a pile of rocks under a popcicle stick tree with one leaf. I think your blog is great as is, or to steal a phrase “You’re perfect!”. Love the dogs, they are so cute.

Choosing from a great stash of yarn like these is so difficult. If this were a shop I’d be leaving will all 8 and more besides! So I just rolled a D8 and came up with Sanguine Gryphon, Fiberphile and Zen Garden. Thanks for opportunity to win one.

  80. Congratulations on your anniversary (and your trip abroad). Photos speak to me, so I appreciate them a lot. I am also a dog lover, so squeezing in more photos of dogs would be great too 🙂 As far as the yarn, my preferance would be: Ancient Forest, Lagoon and then, Black Plum.

    Cheers,

  81. Hi Lina! I hope you’re having a wonderful time on your vacation! I love your blog, your pictures are amazing. I like it the way it is, a mix of everything!

The yarn is beautiful, it would be lovely to win any one of those skeins, but here are my top three: Malabrigo, J. Knits Superwash Me Sock, Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy

    Happy Blogiversary!!! 🙂

  82. Congrats on your one year anniversary! I just starting knitting again after a few years. I’m in love with all those wonderful yarns available today. I started looking for knitting blogs and stumbled onto your site. I love your pictures on your blog. Love to see more pics of your dogs and your knits. I’m adding you to my RSS feed. Thank-you for your blog!!!

  83. Opps forget the top three skeins:

    – Three Irish Girls Beckon Merino in Lagoon
    – Zen Yarn Garden 100% Superwash Merino in Black Plum
    – Fiberphile 2-ply Squooshy in Silver Lining

  84. Hope you’ve had a BLAST in Australia! (Darn, you didn’t pack me in your suitcase!) What would I like to see more of in your blog…well, knitting in progress and finished knit pictures are always good. You do that well tho, so I don’t know that there’s anything else I’d change. 🙂

What yarns do I like? In order: the Yarn Love Juliet, the TIG and the Mmmmmalabrigo. They are all wonderful yarns… Happy blogy-versary.

  85. Argh. I forgot to comment – stoopid Reader.

Love love the yarns, love your taste in yarn. Just keep on doing what you do 🙂
