I finished the Arabella shawl I posted about working on in my last Wollmeise-praising post and I love love love it! Not only the yarn (of course) but also the pattern. They are amazing together, IMO.
Is that gorgeous or what? And it turned out huge as I used up every little bit of my skein. I had maybe 2 yards left at the end (I maybe might have/did sweat a tiny little bit as I was binding off) of the 575 yard skein. Basically, a lot of yarn!
I love how big (that’s a 66″ wingspan) and comfy it is to wear. Not to mention how airy and delicate – just right for Spring and Summer!
The pattern itself was really fun to knit up. It wasn’t easy or hard. Just the right amount of concentration needed. Even though I never memorized the entire 12 row repeat, I could easily remember the row after looking at it once. I love that kind of knit… easy to do but still keeps you on your toes!
The shawl was actually a test knit for Kristen of Knitting Kninja Designs. She’s a good friend and I absolutely love all of her designs, so if you haven’t checked out her patterns yet, make sure to do so. I promise you won’t regret it – I actually made her Clothilde shawl back in August when I didn’t even know her, so I promise this isn’t just because she’s a friend. 😉
Pattern – Arabella by Kristen Hanley Cardozo (rav link | project link)
Yarn – Wollmeise 100% Merino Superwash in Mon Cheri (rav link | store I used)
Needle – US6 (4mm)
Cast on – February 4, 2010
Cast off – April 2, 2010
Modifications – I knit the size small but did 9 lace repeats (instead of 8 repeats) and worked the full ornate edging + 4 rows of chart C3 to make bigger points.
Taking the pictures on an actual warm day was just wonderful and the pups had a lot of fun running around as I posed. 😀
I hope everyone is enjoying some nice weather for a change!
Also, I had a question I wanted to ask my readers… how is the layout working for you? I have a very large screen computer so I like seeing big pictures but I’m uncertain as to whether or not this works for everyone. I can change the size of the pictures being posted if they aren’t working out well for everyone. If you can let me know in a comment, I’d appreciate it! 🙂
