Fall Foliage

Walkway over the Hudson

My favorite season by far is Fall. Not only because I’m a knitter (I think almost any knitter will admit to loving Fall for the way it makes us want to pick up yarn again and start casting on for soft and fuzzy things to keep us warm through the winter), but also because I just love the chill in the air, the rainy days and most of all the leaves as they start changing and then falling off the trees.

The same weekend that I went up to Rhinebeck with my mom we also took a mini-vacation around the Hudson River checking out the Fall Foliage and the little towns along the way. The leaves had only just begun to change so there was still quite a bit of green around, but it didn’t detract from the beauty of the area at all, as I’m sure you can see!

This quaint little town is Cold Spring, NY where we walked around all the antique shops and my parents were nice enough to buy us a wine cabinet as a house warming gift! It’s so pretty and I love that when I look at it I remember how nice that trip was! 🙂

We also visited Historic Hughenot Street, where the first homes were built in the early 1700’s!

I loved seeing all these homes and especially being able to see the late 1800’s home with this adorable knitting basket! How cool is that?

When we were about to leave Hughenot Street, our guide told us to check out the Walkway Over the Hudson, which had just opened last year. It had a wonderful view so we’re glad we took her advice!

It was a wonderful mini-trip and we’re so glad we decided to spend the couple extra days getting to know the area around Rhinebeck before going to the festival and we will totally go back sometime and next time bring the dogs as we’re sure they would love it! This time we got to come home to them instead and cozy up on the couch… not too bad of a deal! 😉

  1. Omg I am in love with that knitting basket! Great photos, New York state in the fall is one of the most beautiful places on earth, the fall I spent there I was completely blown away by all the colours…
