Happy 2nd Blogiversary Photo.Knit.Dog!

Yes, I am late on my Blogiversary post. I’m not really happy about it, but what can you do? Life catches up with you sometimes and the blog was placed on the back burner for the past few days. That being said, I’m very excited to say that Photo.Knit.Dog is two years old! Woohoo! It has been an amazing experience sharing my life with you all and I’m so happy to have made friends through here and to read your own blogs as well. I definitely wouldn’t be able to keep writing if it wasn’t for everyone who comes here, reads, and leaves comments. You all are the best! πŸ˜€

So what would be a Blogiversary post without a Giveaway? I’m not sure as I love Giveaways and I love sharing my yarn goodies with you readers! I think I may have a problem with this as I always tend to go overboard on the amount of goodies, LOL. But I’m sure that doesn’t bother any of you one bit, no? πŸ˜‰

For this Blogiversary Giveaway there will be ten winners of ten gorgeous yarns! Don’t believe me? Take a look:

How do you enter to win? Well, as much as I adore all the yarns I have (and I have a ton!) I’m always on the lookout for new indie dyers that I may not have heard of before. With that in mind, leave me a comment by Thursday, November 18th, 11:59pm EDT with the name of an indie dyer that you love and I will use a random number generator to pick 10 winners from the bunch! Make sure to also put in your top 3 wanted skeins from the Giveaway in order of preference. Just like that your name will be entered in the contest. It’s that easy!

Oh and this contest is open to any and everyone who wants to join (no matter where in the world you live). The skein might take a while to get to you if you’re far away from NYC (yes, I will probably use cheap-o shipping) but I’ll ship out to those of you outside of North America, so comment away!

In addition, if you want more chances to win, blog it, Facebook it or Tweet it and come back here and tell me you did so with a link to your post, tweet, etc. An extra chance for each one of those (leave a separate comment for each if you do it on different places) and your odds are looking pretty good, I’d say!

Good luck to everyone! πŸ˜€

I’d suggest Becoming Art, but you probably have tried her stuff. LOL. Mountain Colors have some lovely stuff too.

    The Plucky Knitter
    Dragonfly Djinni
    Gaia’s Colours

  6. It’s first time I happen to read your blog so it probably would not be fair if I’d win, but I certainly like the Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock in Rocky Top like mad! (Sknitches Syncopation in Planetarium and Wollmeise 100% Sockenwolle in Fliederbusch look adorable, too.)
But now I’m bouncing on my armchair from excitement to wander through the two years of your blog. πŸ™‚

  7. Congratulations!

I’m really liking Hedgehog Fibres on Etsy these days. Lovely colors.

Thanks for the giveaway! I’d love any of them, but in order…

    Wollmeise
    Madeline Tosh – Thyme
    Dragonfly – Rocky Top

  8. My new find:
    http://www.etsy.com/shop/stoneandstringstudio

She’s local to me & is a doll, pretty dyeing, pretty handspun, pretty fiber.

For the yarns, as much as I love that WM, I have 2 purples AND I used a similar purple, so more seems like overkill. I hope someone who loves it wins it!
    1. Gaia’s Colours Sea Silk
    2. Plucky Knitter
    3. Mad Tosh Merino light
Because I don’t have any of those!

Thanks for introducing me to new yarns (you know, because I might run out at any moment). I’m going to check out the Gaia’s right now – that’s gorgeous!

  9. Favorite dyers:

Wollmeise – yes, I’m hooked now too

Dyeabolical – Rachel is local to me and I adore her yarn. I soon hope to adore her fiber when I get a wheel in the future.

  10. Absolutely love Hedgehog Fibres, Old Maiden Aunt and Tony and Dee over at Posh Yarn UK.

My “would love if I won” in order are:

    Thalassa seasilk
    Wollmeise
    Dragonfly

Congratulations on your blogiversary, and thank you for hosting a giveaway!

  11. My favourite indie dyer is Morag of http://www.vintagepurls.co.nz; she does the most divine dye jobs and is wonderful to deal with. The only problem is a tendancy to sell out shortly after a new lot of yarn goes up.
My 3 yarn choices would be (in order): Wollemeise, Dragonfly fibres Djinni in Rocky Top, Gaias Colours Thalassa Seasilk Lace in Korrigan

  12. Have you heard of Skein? She has an etsy store skeinyarns.etsy.com. She is in Australia so it takes a bit to get to you but she has great colors and the yarn is so soft.

    1. plucky
    2. djinni
    3. tml thyme

Love your blog! You photography skills are amazing!

  13. You have such great giveaways! Let’s see:
    1) Wollmeise (never seen it in person)
    2) MadTosh DK in baltic
    3)Djinni
(but then if I do win I’d really take any of them πŸ™‚ )

Oh and here are a few (possibly) new ones for you: Sweet georgia, Tanis fiber arts, yarn love, and String theory.

  14. Congratulations on two years!!! I love all your indie dyers listed..,and so many of those posted in comments before me. My recent find, that I am now out to acquire more of, is Hedgehog Fibers…yummy…that and String Theory!

  15. Congrats! I love Knitwitch, but I don’t know what contstitutes “indi.” And if I win, you pick. OI love anything solid or semi solid…

  16. Congrats on two years of beautiful photography and sharing yourself with us all. I am really liking OrangeFlower on etsy and Hedgehog Fibers, also on etsy. I’m intrigued by SweetGeorgia but have yet to try any.

    Love your giveaways!
    1. WM Fliederbusch
    2. MadTosh TML Thyme
    3. MadTosh DK Baltic

Here’s to many more years of shared memories!

  17. Congrats on 2 years! That’s great….I’m so glad I found your blog. I just love your photos! And your knits! And your dogs!

Have you ever tried Knit Witch yarns before? Just go to http://www.knitwitch.com I’ve designed with her yarns and really like them.

    My order of preference is:

    1. Wollmeise
    2. Sea Silk
    3. Sereknity

  18. Happy Blog-a-versary!

My favorite indie dyer is Dyelectable Yarns. Her store’s a little empty right now, since all of her updates get snapped up like that!

If I were to win, I think these are my top 3:
    1) Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock in Rocky Top
    2) Wollmeise 100% Sockenwolle in Fliederbusch
    3) Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in Pond Scum

But that’s a tough choice to make – they’d all be quite happy in my stash. πŸ˜‰

  19. I want to second Skein, http://www.etsy.com/shop/SkeinYarns, and of course the absolutely delicious (yarn!!) Tanis Fiber Arts, http://www.tanisfiberarts.com/, whose Purple Label has the same fiber content as Bugga. One fiber artist that doesn’t appear to be mentioned above is UrbanGypz, http://www.etsy.com/shop/UrbanGypZ, whose colors always make me feel happy.

As for the yarn giveaway, just seeing your beautiful photography is reason enough to take part. If I absolutely have to list a yarn choice, then it would be Sknitches Syncopation in Planetarium. I’ve never knitted with SeaSilk, so that would be another choice.

  20. I absolutely must include Sunshine Yarns, http://www.sunshineyarns.com/. Dani’s updates sell out in seconds. If you think that buying Wollmeise is tough, then you haven’t tried getting Sunshine Yarns.

I don’t see my previous reply, but hopefully it will show up. πŸ™‚

  21. Congrats on your blogiversary!

One of my favorite indie dyers is Two Windows Dye who is a Kansas dyer. She used to sell at a local KC LYS but it closed earlier this year so it’s hard to get.

    My order of preference is
    1. Plucky knitter
    2. Sknitches Syncopation
    3. Wollmeise

  22. My favorite indie dyer is The Plucky Knitter. I also love the Sanguine Gryphon (especially love the Bugga).

    3. Madelinetosh TML in Thyme
… and b/c my top 3 seem to be on everyone else’s list too, here is a 4th: Mackintosh in Papaya

Thanks for the giveaway, and congrats on 2 years!

  23. Right now, I am loving orangeflower. Her colors are lovely.

    I’d love to win:
    1. Wollmeise
    2. Plucky knitter
    3. Djinni

Thanks and happy 2nd year to you!

    3. Gaia’s Colours Thalassa Seasilk Lace in Korrigan

    Congrats!

  25. I can’t contribute any indie yarns because I haven’t bought any. I do want to say Congratulations! on 2 years. I have really enjoyed your blog especially the beautiful pictures. I have to say your yarn selection shows your artistic talent. I can’t wait to see what you will do this year.

  26. My favourite indie dyer has to be Tanis from Tanis Fiber Arts. I love her yarn bases and colours.

    2) Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock in Rocky Top
    3) Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in Pond Scum

  27. Salut ma chère!!

I thought I’d tell you about London-Wul, who is run by a woman back home (her name is “Wul”frat, how cool is that!!) that I know that not only dyes her own yarns in her back yard, which happens to be behind her wool shop in the middle of nowhere, but she also spins her yarns and has her own sheep! She has a cute little hut that you can go to from her shop where I’ve seen her dying with plants from around her sheep farm. Another thing I thought you’d like is that she has a mascot!! When you go into her shop, she has a HUGE, snuggly, black Newfoundland who hangs around and greets knitters when they come in! She’s in the ‘Γ‰conomusΓ©e’ route in Atlantic Canada.

    Here is her blog: http://www.thewoolworks.blogspot.com/#blog-title
Her ETSY shop:(I linked the hand dyed sock yarn section for you, xoxo) http://www.etsy.com/shop/LondonWul?section_id=5801938

  35. Unfortunately the creators of my favourite indie-dyed yarn so far don’t seem to have an online presence πŸ™ I got the two skeins at KnitNation in London, and the name on the label was Monnow, and the colourway was called Sea Foam (so magical!).

I love Thyme, Indiscreet, or Rocky Top.

  54. Happy Blogiversary! Two years is a lot of blogging πŸ™‚

From reading my blog my fave dyers are probably no surprise to you but are probably still not someone you’ve tried. So, first up the wonderful Vintage Purls, for sock and lace weight yarn (updates are Monday afternoon NZ time), and Knitsch. Brilliant new colours were released this week too!

    And my faves?

Ohhh the colour of the Wollmeise, It’s PURPLE! So it’s #1.
Then the Plucky Knitter – not something I’ve tried or stashed yet πŸ™‚
And final fave is the Dragonfly Fibres. Something about the lovely colour combo I think πŸ™‚

Congrats again, it’s a pleasure reading about what you get up to on the side of the world πŸ™‚

  55. I just stumbled across your blog recently and I have to say WoW! I love your photos and commentary. Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚ Congratulations on your anniversary! One of my favourite dyers is Sweet Georgia Yarns. She has some gorgeous colours, and beautiful yarns. I knit a sweater for my daugter in her Tough Love sock yarn, and it wears well (very tough) and just gets softer with each wash. It’s awesome.
