Folha Luz

Folha Luz - FINISHED

So excited to announce that I published my first pattern, Folha Luz, today! It being my first design, I am hoping that not only will people like it, but that it will be a fun knit to boot. 🙂 I know that I loved knitting it up and have been wearing it every chance I get – it’s so soft and cozy in the gorgeous Fiberphile Merino Cashmere Sock!

Here are some of the specs for the shawlette:

Pattern Description:
Folha Luz means Light Leaf in Portuguese. As I began knitting up this shawlette I had in mind leaves flowing up from a base of ruffles but when I finished I kept seeing candle flames with long wicks. As leaves are dependent on light to survive, I thought the name Folha Luz was more than appropriate for this pattern.

The shawlette is knit in a heavy fingering weight yarn from the bottom up so every row you knit gets smaller and smaller as you go. Although it is a quick knit and is mostly composed of garter stitch, Folha Luz has a lot of elements at play during any one row so you will never be bored with it! It is a perfect accessory to layer on during the Winter months and to keep you warm on chilly Spring and Fall days.

Pattern includes 5 pages of written instruction and one chart, a schematic to make knitting the shawl easier, and tips on how to cast on, cast off and block. It has been extensively test knit (thank you to my wonderful test knitters!) and edited.

US6 (4mm) circular needle, 24″ or larger

Although the shawlette is mostly garter stitch, it is definitely not boring as there are multiple elements going on at any one row. The small is great for single skeins of sock yarn and the large is the perfect size to keep you warm on colder nights. I’m looking forward to seeing other projects made in different colors and yarns!
