Leaving

I can’t believe it’s been almost two weeks since my last post! I would normally feel like such a slacker, but considering all the things I’ve had going on, I don’t feel too too bad about it. Work and life will from time to time get in the way of blogging, but that’s a good thing too. I like being busy. I’ve also been knitting quite a bit during this time and actually have an FO to share that I didn’t even have the time to show you while I was working on it! It’s the Leaving pattern pullover version and I just love everything about it.

Leaving - FINISHED

The pattern was a breeze to knit. Very easy and very straightforward. I did modify it to knit in the round (hate seaming if I don’t have to) for both the body and the sleeves up to the armholes/caps. I also cast on for one size larger and decreased down to the smaller size to fit my shape better. This was a very good decision, IMO, as the sweater fits like a dream. It’s the perfect size and looks very good on me – if I do say so myself!

My other favorite part of this sweater is the yarn. I knit it with Bugga! in Blue Lobster and not only is the feel of it to die for, the color is just gorgeous to look at! Gotta love those jewel-toned blues. 😀

Leaving - FINISHED

I’ve already worn this one (and received lots of compliments on it) and plan on making it a staple of my early Spring wardrobe this year!

I’m actually also contemplating making the pattern’s Cardigan version as well. It’s such an easy knit, it just might be worth knitting it again.

Leaving - FINISHED

Pattern – Leaving by Anne Hanson (project link | pattern link)
Yarn – The Sanguine Gryphon Bugga! in Blue Lobster (rav link | store I used)
Needle – US5 (3.75mm), US6 (4mm), US7 (4.5mm)
Cast on – February 6, 2011
Cast off – February 22, 2011
Modifications – Knit in the round, so omitted 4 stitches from selvedge edge for body, 2 stitches for sleeves. Cast on for 43.5″ size but decreased down to 40.5″ size by not doing any more increases after the waist decreases were finished. Knit the sleeves to 18.5″ before doing the caps.

I’m currently trying to get caught up on all your blogs (haven’t had time to blog OR read blogs lately!), so I hope to be able to do that within the next couple of days. I have a lot to read! Hope everyone is doing well!

PS: A yarn photography how-to post will be following… don’t think I forgot!

  1. I love that last picture of you!

This sweater is absolutely stunning and fits you perfectly. Getting a sweater to fit beautifully is not an easy thing, I’m finding. You seem to really excel at it.
