Year of Socks – Socks 3&4

Again I went MIA for a few weeks… I wish I could say that this will be over, but sadly I doubt it very much for the next couple of months. As it turns out I’m traveling a LOT over the summer (and have been traveling a lot this Spring as well) and as such don’t have much time to update the blog. However, I will make a conscious effort to pop in every couple of weeks to update. In particular because I know that I get antsy when I don’t do it. I really do love to write in here and read everyone else’s blogs, and I hate it when I stop doing it! Stupid life getting in the way. I for sure will be catching up on blog reading this weekend (one of the perks of having the hubby away on business for the weekend) so hopefully I won’t feel like I abandoned so many blog friends anymore. I do hope you all are doing well!

For actual blogging content, I have plenty to update you all on. I have lots of socks that I’ve been knitting up to share with you. In particular, I have finished four pairs since I last showed you a pair! Now don’t be too impressed, as it turns out I just haven’t shared these socks with you… but they have been done for months now. This pair of Monkeys (my second pair as Monkey was the first sock I ever made!) were actually finished back in February, so quite a long time ago.

Monkeys II - FINISHED

I have worn them a few times since making them and they are wearing very well. I love how well Monkeys work with variegated yarns! It makes it so much fun to knit up. 🙂

Monkeys II - FINISHED

Pattern – Monkeys by Cookie A (project link | pattern link)
Yarn – Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Mediumweight in Rare Gems (rav link | store I used – bought at Rhinebeck)
Needle – US1 (2.25mm)
Cast on – February 9, 2011
Cast off – February 27, 2011
Modifications – none

For my fourth pair I was supposed to be doing Thelonious (am doing the Knit.Sock.Love KAL on Ravelry) but as I am not a fan of the look of that sock I decided to substitute for Cubist, which I think are so much fun!

Cubist - FINISHED

I’m glad I did substitute in the end, as I loved knitting Cubist up. Such a fun sock and totally easy to knit too.

Cubist - FINISHED

I have worn these a LOT over the last month or so and just love them. They’re made with Fiberphile MCN Luxe Sock, which is my all time favorite yarn for socks. So soft and wears incredibly well. Plus, it just looks good with any pattern… and especially as a Cubist sock. 😉

Cubist - FINISHED

Pattern – Cubist Socks by Cookie A (project link | pattern link)
Yarn – Fiberphile MCN Luxe Sock in Bayou (rav link | store I used)
Needle – US1.5 (2.5mm)
Cast on – March 26, 2011
Cast off – April 28, 2011
Modifications – continued the pattern up the toe instead of doing regular stockinette

I still have two more pairs to share with you all but will wait to do that in the next post… don’t want to overwhelm you with pretty! LOL! I will instead leave you with a family portrait my sister took of us on Mother’s Day a few weeks ago. I just love this picture and already have it framed and displayed here in my home. It’s the only picture we have of all four of us, so it’s very special to me. 🙂
