It hasn’t been THAT long since my last post, but I feel weird if I don’t post at least once a week… yes, I’m strange like that. Things have been going well in dog-world around here. Hitchcock is adorable and such a good puppy. We’re doing very well in training and he and Kubrick are total BFFs, which makes me happy as they are just great together. I think this picture pretty much sums up how happy Kubrick is to have a little brother… do you see that big grin on his face?
These are a few of my favorite pics of the two of them (and yes, they do spoon, haha!):
I named this one “Ack! Help!” because Hitch’s paws in it crack me up!
Some of my favorite pics of Hitchcock alone:
He has the cutest butt:
And just for kicks, one of Kubrick looking stinkin’ cute!
Other than taking care of the pups, work’s been keeping me really busy. We’ve had some good news, though, as DH received his annual bonus and an increase in salary (yay!). The bonus went straight into savings and hopefully that’s where it will stay until we can buy a house. Next year maybe. ๐
Also, I did get to see two movies in the last two weeks and really enjoyed them both (Coraline and Slumdog Millionaire) and would recommend them for sure. Of course, Coraline is based off a children’s book so it’s definitely a movie for kids, but I really liked it! I was SO impressed with the 3D and what they can do nowadays. The last 3D movie I went to was in the 80s where they only used 3D effects to scare you or have you try to grab thing in the air. In contrast, the 3D in Coraline was used to give depth (most of the 3D was going INTO the screen) and add interest. It was very well done. Plus, Neil Gaiman is my other platonic love (up there with Jared Flood, if you can believe it) and he wrote it, so that makes it a pretty great book in my world! Slumdog Millionaire was an amazing movie as well and I’m so glad it won this year’s Oscar for Best Picture. Not to mention all the other awards it won – I LOVE the soundtrack… I’m listening to it right now. If you haven’t seen it or heard the music in it, I highly suggest you get to it!
In other happy news, now that Hitchcock doesn’t need to be supervised 24/7, I’ve been able to pick up my knitting again. I’ve been continuing on with my Girasole blanket and am almost at the edging… just one more chart to finish (there are 7 charts to work through for those who are not knitting this) and I’ll be able to do the bind-off edging, which I’ve heard takes just about forever to finish as it’s so time-consuming. It does look gorgeous when done, though! Here are pictures of my Girasole so far:
And one close up:
I just love how it’s knitting up. It’s just gorgeous and SO soft and warm. I don’t even need to use a blanket when knitting with it as it keeps me warm as I go. ๐
In other knitting news, I’ve been bad bad bad (yes, that bad) and bought some yarn this week. I wasn’t supposed to be buying ANY yarn… at least DH knows and didn’t say anything… maybe he feels sorry for me and my huge yarn stash that was definitely needing some MORE pretty yarn? Yeah… I’m totally worthless, I know.
First up, I am just absolutely going gaga over this yarn. It’s Crystal Palace Mini Mochi in Strawberry-Limes rainbow color. It is SO soft to the touch, I think I’m in love:
I also got some Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select in Go Green… I love the color!
As if that wasn’t enough, I was able to snag some Mama Blue yarn! In case you haven’t heard, Mama Blue yarns are enormously difficult to get due to her updating and them all being snatched up right away. I tried for 5 different skeins and was only able to get one (they sell out within seconds of being posted), but I am so happy with the one I got – I would be lying if I said I didn’t covet it in Ink (seriously, check out that blue!), though! I think I’m going to make a hat out of it… not sure which hat is worthy of it, though. I haven’t received it yet (just bought it a couple of days ago), but you can click here to go check it out. The color is pretty gorgeous, no?
I also (yes, I know… more yarn??? Did you forget that I mentioned I was bad four times above?) snagged some absolutely gorgeous sock yarn from fiberphiles! This is freaking gorgeous yarn and it is so squishably soft, it’s hard to let go of it. I cannot WAIT to knit with it. As I haven’t taken pictures of the skein I’ve received (I bought three, ack!), I’ll just direct you to her sale pages for them. First up is the Raspberry Tart that I fell in love with. I just love the colors in this one and was so happy to get it – there’s still one left if you like it too. ๐ I was also able to get a BFL/Nylon sock blend in Black Cherry and the minute she posted (and no, I’m not kidding), I snagged this absolutely gorgeous Coastal. I had my eye on it when she posted a sneak peek in the Ravelry group and I knew I had to get it… I pretty much stalked that shop around the time she said she was going to post just so I could get it. Yes, I love it that much.
I can’t wait to receive these last few skeins… I think I might die and go to yarn heaven. Not a bad way to go, if you ask me!
Sorry for such a long post, but that’s what happens when I don’t post for a while… Hope all of you reading are well and keeping warm. I personally can’t wait until March… Spring is coming!!!
The pups are so cute together!
Girasole is looking good. That’s a big project, but it will be so worth it when you’re done. And I see you have options for new projects, too… ๐
Your furbaby is sooooo cute! I love puppies. I have a bichon (aka, teddy bear) who is “technically” not a puppy anymore, but still has the adorable antics of one.
Thanks for the comment on my blog! ๐

I love the one with Hitchcock sitting underneath Kubrick. Also at one point when you were talking about the yarn I thought you said it was so good you wanted to make out with it. LMAO.
LOL! With how much I was gushing, I’m surprised I didn’t make that comment. ๐
Awwww….puppies! ๐ I absolutely love your photography.
And Girasole is looking gorgeous!
I can has dog and yarn envy? Seriously, dogs are freakin adorable, I keep telling my husband that when we get a house and have the money we’re getting TWO dogs, not one, because they have to play with each other.
really cute doggies! Youve won an award. See it at http://beebabottoms.blogspot.com
Oh my God! Those are the most adorable doggies I swear!! Love, love, love Hitchcock’s butt photo, and Kubrick is the sweetiest. . . I may have to go get me one of my own! (Well, maybe not with my two big doggies in the house.)
Love the Girasole blanket, the knitting is so even, it looks so warm and cushy!! Yum! ๐
the stitch definition in that blanket is really great. so are the dogs, but you can’t really take credit for them.
They are so adorable, I wanna play with them too! The blanket looks great too.
Hello there! I have bestowed upon you a…. (wait for it)…. blogging award! Please see my blog for details. ๐
