After randomly picking the winners and contacting all of them, I thought it would take a few days to hear back from everyone. Wrong! Everyone was so excited to have won that I received responses from all six winners within 10 hours of sending the email. I love it when people are as excited as I am so I already had the yarn out the door and on its way to the new owners by the next day. I hope it all arrived safe and sound and congrats to all the winners! Here’s the list:
1st – Katie – Fiberphile Super Squish Sock in Pacifica AND the Interweave Knits Fall 2009 magazine
2nd – Rachelle – Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Scarlet
3rd – Yarn Dancer – Sundara FSM in Cactus Flower
4th – Candance – Zen Yarn Garden in Lemon Drop
5th – Tamsin – Liberty’s Yarn Jabbersocky in Lucy
6th – Ikkinlala (Nicole) – Colinette Jitterbug in Marble
I hope you all enjoy the yarn and that you get it soon! π
I also chose some of the questions asked to answer here. I’ll do some today and some later so we can space them out a bit, so if I didn’t answer your question today, don’t worry, I’ll do it soon! π
Kubrick and Hitchcock would like to first say that they aren’t sure if I was able to translate for them perfectly when needed, but I promise I did try my best! Woof!
Question: What breed of dogs are Kubrick and Hitchcock?
Kubrick and Hitchcock are Havanese! And no that is *not* a designer breed… Havanese originally hail from Cuba (get it Havana, Cuba = Havanese) and they are actually the national dog of Cuba. We’ve seen quite a few Cuban-inspired named Havs but we went the American route with the boys’ names… I mean they were born and raised here! π
Question: What are their favorite toys?
Kubrick has two toys that are his favorites, though they are both balls – he loves playing with balls! – one of them is his cow ball. He knows it by name and will search for it in the toy box if you ask him to find it! In the picture below, you can see him having a Stare Off with the cow… I still haven’t figured out who won, though!
The second is his soccer ball. Kubrick goes crazy for it, but Daddy doesn’t much enjoy hearing him squeak it as loud as he can (which Kubrick will do right in the middle of movies) so he only gets it when we can stand it. It is, however, one of his all-time favorite toys… here he is showing his brother the ball when Hitchcock first came to live with us!
Hitchcock’s favorite toy is a little mouse. No squeaker, nothing special about it, but he does love that thing! He tosses it up in the air and then catches it when it comes down – I think he tells himself the mouse is trying to get away from him or something. π The funny part is he got the thing at the vet’s office last Christmas and he really hates going to see the vet… even if his favorite toy came from there!
Question: Whatβs your favorite outdoor activity in the winter?
Kubrick’s favorite activity any time is chasing and playing with doggy friends. He’ll do that with or without snow on the ground! π
Apart from playing with his brother, Hitchcock’s favorite activity is eating snow. He just doesn’t like to admit it!
Question: Whoβs pack leader?
Definitely Kubrick. Hitchcock listens to whatever his brother has to say… or else!
But Hitch knows that means he can count on his big brother to protect him when he’s feeling scared.
Question: How do you guys like going to the bathroom outside & up so high?
Well I have to admit they were very nervous at first, but once Kubrick did it, Hitchcock had no problems following suit. They love hanging out out there now! It’s one of their favorite spots. π
Question: How do you not chew up all the shoes in the house??
Kubrick never had any interest in shoes, but Hitchcock says it was very hard because mommy was so mean to him whenever he tried to do it… he’d be happily chewing and then I’d swoop down with a toy or a chew (like Merrick Flossies) and give that to him instead saying good boy. Hitchcock said that wasn’t nice of me but now he knows that he is allowed to chew on his toys and on yummy Flossies but is NOT allowed to chew on anything else in the house. Don’t tell him I said so, but I think he’s quite happy with the outcome. π
hey, you answered my question! Cool! my new dog likes to chew everything and anything so maybe this will help!
Love the picture of Hitchcock eying his mouse. Classic!
I got my yarn yesterday after coming back home from the Knit Camp marketplace!! The perfect end to a lovely day. It’s such a pretty yarn, thank you so much!!!!!!
I love the pictures – so cute!
They are lovely dogs, I’m still trying to persuade my husband that dogs would be a good idea, he’s a cat person.
Btw, thank you so much for pulling my name out for the Madeline Tosh, I’ll let you know when it arrives.
such cute dogs. i love the running in snow photo.
It’s here already! You obviously use a different (better) postal service than Amazon, their stuff takes weeks to get here.
Btw, it’s beautiful, I’ve got it sitting here in front of me so I can appreciate it before it goes into the stash. Got to work out the best pattern to appreciate it with.
Thank you!
