This being my second year going to the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck I was a heck of a lot more subdued in my purchases than the ginormous amount of yarn that I purchased last year. That being said, I still had a great time this year! It was just as beautiful this year as last year (though a LOT less cold than last year, thankfully) and it was great being there!
These awesome weird looking balls are filled with fiber that birds can use to build their nests! They are colorful so you can spot them once the nests are built. Pretty cool and they look awesome too. 🙂
And of course we got to see cute sheep, alpaca and llamas while there!
This one was sniffing this lady’s purse… I wonder what she had in it, LOL!
Oh and we can’t forget the cute Angora bunnies!
After taking in the festival and buying some yarn, my mom and I made our way to the Rav party. It was pretty cool and I got to see some other Rav friends that I hadn’t made plans to meet up with originally. I did get to see Elizabeth (mirepoixmagique on Rav) and her new adorable baby Daphnée earlier and that was pretty awesome as I love Elizabeth, of course! 🙂 I didn’t get any pictures at all with her, however, and I only realized that later! 🙁 I did get some shots of the Rav party of random Ravelers, though!
My mom and I then went back on Sunday and got some more stuff before heading home. I really didn’t purchase much at all as I mentioned before, but I’m really happy with what I got! Two different buttons:
A sweater quantity of a 50/50 merino/silk blend DK weight from Brooks Farm. This one I’m specially excited about as I’ve always wanted to get a sweater quantity of this type of blend but since it’s so expensive I’ve yet to do it. But I got a pretty good deal on it so yay!
And what do you know? The buttons I bought go PERFECTLY with this color! And I swear I did NOT do this on purpose!
The other buttons I got were bought with a specific project in mind that I have OTN at the moment… and will blog more about next time, but for now here’s a sneak peek… are those buttons awesome with it or what??? YAY!
And my last purchase (didn’t I say I didn’t get that much? You didn’t believe me did you? ha!) is something I’ve wanted to try for a LONG time but didn’t have the nerve to do it… I got a set of Tsarina Tsocks! This one is for The Nine Tailors (rav link) and they are gorgeous socks! I can’t wait to start them, though I’m also a bit scared… we’ll see how hard it actually is!
And last, but not least, the Rav party goodie bag that I got!
It is filled with coupons and fliers and pins. Every one got a different pattern booklet so I’m REALLY excited that I got Norah Gaughan volume 7 as I’ve wanted to get it for myself and now I don’t have to. 😀
All in all it was a very fun trip and I’m definitely excited about going yet again next year!
Not only am I in love with your turquoise buttons but that red DK yarn looks TO DIE FOR.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I LOVE the Brooks Farm merino/silk and I can’t wait to see the FO bc that color is spectacular. Totally cute buttons. Wonder if that sheep was trying to sniff out a Coach knock-off?? Glad you got to meet up with Elizabeth:) Thanks for letting us share in your weekend!
I’m so jealous of everyone who went to Rhinebeck! Looks like you had a great trip. The buttons you bought are adorable!
looks like you had a good time! love those buttons.

So,so jealous! Rhinebeck AND a Rav party?? Loving it!
Oh, your pictures are gorgeous! I feel like I was there. Thanks for sharing!
i am absolutely sick with jealousy and your pictures are OUTSTANDING as usual. Will we see you at Stitches West again this year?
Very nifty! The buttons are a great find. I am always jealous of the fiber festivals and live vicariously through those who can attend.
All the photos are so gorgeous! Amazing yarn and fall colurs. I can’t wait to see what you make with that new yarn, the buttons are perfect.
It looks like you had a good time. I’m so jealous you got to see Elizabeth & Daphnee! You are going to love that Solo Silk – it’s like knitting with butter – one of my favorite yarns of all times. Great button purchases 😀
I love both sets of buttons that you bought, such great choices!
Interesting photos of Rhinebeck. I’ve never been and for some reason thought it was an outdoor/ open air show! Good to know 😉
